PLATT SOLID BUT BEACH BUMS FALL

6/24/2010 - TRAVERSE CITY, MI – Chase Burch and Kyle Eveland each hit homeruns while Ryan Platt turned in another good performance on the mound for TC going six innings for the third straight start, striking out eight while surrendering just two runs, but a late Lake Erie rally gave the Crushers a 6-3 win on Sunny Country Night at Wuerfel Park.

The Beach Bums wasted no time in jumping on Josh Roberts as in the first inning with two out, Michael Diaz singled. Chase Burch worked the count in his favor before driving a deep homerun the opposite way for a 2-0 TC lead. Traverse City would extend the lead in the third inning as Kyle Eveland also went yard with a solo shot. It was Eveland's first professional homerun.

Things looked magnificent for the Beach Bums on the mound as well as Ryan Platt was on point, not allowing a hit through the first five innings. Lake Erie would get their first hits and runs in the sixth on an sacrifice fly from Eddie Tisdale and a double by Travis Vetters to cut the lead to 3-2.

As the game moved to the seventh, Traverse City entrusted things to the bullpen. After striking out the first batter, Jack Adams allowed a single to Arden McWilliams. Julio Rivera, who had come in an inning earlier to replace an injured Joel Collins, lifted a ball the hugged the line in right. The ball stayed fair and bounced off the top of the fence, onto the
berm for a homerun, putting the Crushers up 4-3. Lake Erie would pad the lead with two runs in the eighth to obtain the final margin.

Josh Roberts (4-0) got the win for the Crushers. Jack Adams (1-1) took the loss with Jeff Cinadr picking up his second save. Offensively, J. T. Hall collected two more hits, giving him a seven game hitting streak.

The Beach Bums complete the series against the Crushers as Jonny Bravo (1-0, 1.17) starts for the Beach Bums against Phil Rummel (2-2, 5.85) for Lake Erie.
