PETERSON ADDED TO BEACH BUMS ROSTER

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – The Traverse City Beach Bums continue to build their 2016 roster, signing infielder/outfielder Tyler Peterson.  Photos provided by and used with the permission of the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks.

"Peterson has some experience and I think he has the potential for a breakout season," said Jason Wuerfel, Beach Bums Director of Baseball Operations. "His greatest strength is his bat and I'm excited to see what he can do in training camp."

Peterson played 27 games during the last two seasons in the American Association, splitting time between the St. Paul Saints and Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks. Combined, he hit .235 with a home run and 13 RBI.

Prior to his time with the Saints, the 23-year old played two seasons at the University of St. Thomas. As a senior in 2014, he finished fourth in NCAA Division-III with a .470 batting average and was sixth with an .803 slugging percentage. Overall in 37 games, he led the Tommies with 18 doubles, eight home runs and was second on the squad with 50 RBI, leading them to a 39-9 record and a berth in the Division-III World Series.

In 2013, he hit .369 with two homers and 47 RBI. One of his best attributes is his eye at the plate. In his two seasons at STU, he struck out just 11 times in 312 plate appearances.
