CRESTWOOD, IL – The Traverse City Beach Bums(27-46) allowed a big inning in the second and couldn’t climb back into the game, falling to the Windy City Thunderbolts(40-34), by a final score of 8-5.

With one out in the first, Orlando Rivera snuck a base hit into right field then Steven Patterson smashed a two-run homer off of the top of the scoreboard, his 13th long ball of the year, giving the Beach Bums a 2-0 lead. It would not last long as Windy City batted around in the second. Tim Zier, Ransom Lalonde, Keenyn Walker, and Riley Krane would combine for six RBI as the Thunderbolts took a four run lead.

With one out in the third, the Bums got one run back when Orlando Rivera tripled to center and scored on a Patterson groundout. In the fourth, Walker and Larry Balkwill each hit RBI singles, extending the Bums’ deficit to five. With two outs in the seventh, Jeff DeBlieux started a rally with a single to right. Orlando Rivera and Patterson would follow with back-to-back RBI doubles to make it an 8-5 game. In the ninth, Traverse City brought the tying run to the plate but could not complete the comeback.

Will Landsheft picked up the win in his Windy City debut. He went into the seventh inning, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks, with three strikeouts. He improves to 5-8. Dominic Reed only made it through two innings in his first professional start. He gave up six runs on six hits and two walks to fall to 0-1. Brian Loconsole got himself into, and then out of trouble in the ninth inning, to pick up his 26th save of the season.
