PATTERSON CHOSEN FOR ALL-STAR HOME RUN DERBY

East Preview: Steven Patterson and Seth Spivey both hold the highest total homeruns out of the East Division representatives. Spivey has been awarded Player of the Week three times this season and currently holds the highest batting average in the Frontier League at .423 and slugging percentage at .709.  Patterson also earned Week 3 Player of the Week thanks to his bombs. Rock Shoulders who leads the Slammers with eight dingers, started out the season by having a multi-homer game against Traverse City back on May 18. Larry Balkwill looks to step in and be a leader in the Derby as he will start at catcher for the East All-Stars. With seven homers, his more impressive feat is a .500 slugging percentage. Tanner Lubach will take the duties for Lake Erie as he will try to crush some dingers at Slammers Stadium.

West Preview: Otter representative Josh Gardner, currently leads the Frontier League with 13 homeruns. The next closest hitter in the West to Gardner is Gateway Grizzlie Blake Brown at 10. Brown has two multi-homer games so far this season. Dane Phillips earned Player of the Week honors earlier this season when he hit three bombs over the course of the week. Aaron Dudley finished second last season in total homeruns in the entire League with eighteen. With a lower number of shots taken, Dudley is currently fourth in the League in slugging percentage with .573. Despite a slower start to the season, Josh Silver (River City) finished third overall in batting average for the Frontier League in 2016 at .352. Though Brower only having five homers is highlighted by his .451 slugging percentage.
