TRAVERSE CITY, MI – The Traverse City Beach Bums(23-32) left ten men on base, falling tonight against the Normal Cornbelters(27-29), by a final score of 1-0.  

For the second night in a row, Normal took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, tonight on a groundout by Nolan Meadows. Yeixon Ruiz led off the game with a walk, moved to second on Santiago Chirino’s RBI, and to third, on a fly out, before scoring the game’s lone run. The Beach Bums best chance to score came in the fifth, when DeBlieux was thrown out at the plate trying to score from second on a Alexis Rivera single. 

Normal’s Sixto Torres picked up the win with an up-and-down performance. He went six innings and walked six but struck out eight, helping him get out of trouble a number of times. He improves to 1-1. Reinaldo Lopez picked up his second complete game of the season, allowing just the one run on six hits and two walks while fanning four. He falls to 2-6. Shawn Blackwell earned his 10th save of the season retiring all four he faced, striking out three.                                                                                                                                                   

Tomorrow night, the Beach Bums and Normal Cornbelters conclude this three game set with the Bums trying to salvage the finale. Kramer Champlin gets the ball for the Beach Bums and Edgar de la Rosa pitches for Normal. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm and the voice of the Beach Bums, Tom Willms, goes on the air at 6:45pm with the Budweiser pre-game show, on 101.9- The Bay. 

Game three is also a Happy 150th Birthday Party for Blair Township, Wuerfel Park's home township.  Fans are invited to come on out catch some baseball, try for some special raffle gift and eat some birthday cake.  Topping off the night is the fact it's a Thirsty Thursday. Come out and enjoy $2 6oz Shorts Locals Light, while supplies last! Northwoods soda is also available for $2. Northwoods Orange and Root Beer are outstanding! Gates open at 6pm for a 7:05 first pitch against the Normal Cornbelters.
