AVON, OH – In spite of a valiant ninth-inning comeback attempt, the Traverse City Beach Bums(33-52) committed three errors, and allowed five unearned runs on their way to a 5-3 loss to the Lake Erie Crushers(42-45).  

Jeff DeBlieux led off the first inning with a line drive single to center and a steal of second. Two batters later, Steven Patterson ripped an automatic double that one-hopped the right field wall, scoring DeBlieux, to give the Beach Bums an early lead. In the sixth, Lake Erie tied the game at one with an RBI single by Brandon Murray, who plated Sean Hurley after he reached on an error.

In the eighth, Jordan Dean led off, popping a fly in the infield that was dropped, allowing him to reached second. Bryan DeLaRosa later hit an RBI single to give the Crushers the 2-1 lead. Lake Erie added on with bases-loaded walks issued to Tyler Urps and L.J. Kalawaia, then an RBI single by Sean Hurley capped off the inning. 

In the ninth, Orlando Rivera reached on an infield hit then moved to single on a Steven Patterson single to right. Two batters later, Alexis Rivera drove in Orlando with an RBI single. Kendall Patrick was single hit by a pitch, loading the bases for pinch-hitter John Montgomery. Montgomery laced an RBI single into right to pull Traverse City within two, but they could not complete the comeback. 

After both starters, Reinaldo Lopez and Payton Lobdell got no-decisions after going seven, Manny Arceniga picked up the win for Lake Erie. He went one inning while allowing just one hit and striking out two. He improves to 2-1. Devin Over is dealt the loss struggling in two-thirds of an inning. He gave up four unearned runs on two hits and three walks to fall to 4-3. 

Tomorrow night, the Beach Bums continue this season-long road trip as they head to Joliet, IL, to take on the Slammers in a four game set. The set starts with a doubleheader and first pitch is scheduled for game one at Slammers Stadium is at 6:35pm(EDT) and the voice of the Beach Bums, Tom Willms, will go on the air with the Budweiser pre-game show at 6:15 on 101.9FM-The Bay.
