Traverse City scored three times in the second inning, highlighted by a JT Hall solo homerun, and a pair of bases loaded walks to Matt Brown and Chase Burch gave the Beach Bums the early 3-0 lead. In the bottom of the inning, RiverHawks designated hitter Cameron Satterwhite launched a solo homerun to make it a 3-1 Beach Bums lead. The Beach Bums scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings on an RBI-single from Brown and an RBI-double from Brandon Pearl.
In the seventh and eighth innings, the RiverHawks fought back to bring the Beach Bums lead to 6-4, but would come no closer as Beach Bums right-hander Scott Mueller got pinch-hitter Matt Greener to bounce into a bases-loaded, inning-ending double play to end the threat.
In the ninth, the Beach Bums added an insurance run on a Zach Pace RBI-single to make it 7-4, ending the scoring. The Beach Bums improve to 1-2 with the win, while the RiverHawks fall to 2-1 on the season.
